Jean Cocteau (1889 -1963)

- A film is a petrified fountain of thought

- An original artist is unable to copy. So he has only to copy in order to be original

- Art is a marriage of the conscious and the unconscious.

- Art is not a pastime but a priesthood

- Art produces ugly things which frequently become more beautiful with time. Fashion, on the other hand, produces beautiful things which always become ugly with time

- A true poet does not bother to be poetical. Nor does a nursery gardener scent his roses

- Everything one does in life, even love, occurs in an express train racing toward death. To smoke opium is to get out of the train while it is still moving. It is to concern oneself with something other than life or death.

- Film will only became an art when its materials are as inexpensive as pencil and paper

- I am a lie who always speaks the truth.

- I have a piece of great and sad news to tell you: I am dead

- In Paris, everybody wants to be an actor; nobody is content to be a spectator

- Life is a horizontal fall

- Poetry is indispensable - if I only knew what for

- The poet never asks for admiration; he wants to be believed

I felt Paris fall in love with me ♥

Sitting there, alone in a foreign country, far from my job and everyone I know, a feeling came over me.It was like remembering something I'd never known before or had always been waiting for, but I didn't know what. Maybe it was something I'd forgotten or something
I've been missing all my life.
All I can say is that I felt, at the same time, joy and sadness.
But not too much sadness, because I felt alive. Yes, alive.
That was the moment I fell in love with Paris.
And I felt Paris fall in love with me.

We are the cursed of the loved ones

I've found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespeare said "Journeys end in lovers meeting." What an extraordinary thought. Personally, I have not experienced anything remotely close to that, but I am more than willing to believe Shakespeare had. I suppose I think about love more than anyone really should. I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives. It was Shakespeare who also said "love is blind". Now that is something I know to be true. For some quite inexplicably, love fades; for others love is simply lost. But then of course love can also be found, even if just for the night
And then, there's another kind of love: the cruelest kind. The one that almost kills its victims. Its called unrequited love. Of that I am an expert.

Most love stories are about people who fall in love with each other. But what about the rest of us? What about our stories, those of us who fall in love alone? We are the victims of the one sided affair. We are the cursed of the loved ones. We are the unloved ones, the walking wounded. The handicapped without the advantage of a great parking space! Yes, you are looking at one such individual. And I have willingly loved a man for over three miserable years! The absolute worst years of my life! The worst Christmas', the worst Birthday's, New Years Eve's brought in by tears and valium. These years that I have been in love have been the darkest days of my life. All because I've been cursed by being in love with a man who does not and will not love me back. Oh god, just the sight of him! Heart pounding! Throat thickening! Absolutely can't swallow! All the usual symptoms.

Experience the disaster that is her life

This way, instead of April showing up with some new piercing
or some ugly new tattoo and, God forbid, staying overnight,
this way, we get to show up, experience the disaster that is her life,
smile through it, and before you know it, we're on our way back home.

Remember what an incredible woman you are

Close your eyes. Close your eyes. Close... your... eyes.
You're safe.
You can relax. I'm not going to kiss you.

He's gonna be so sorry he lost you, so stop worrying.
Forget the past. Forget the pain.
And remember what an incredible woman you are.
You do that and he'll realize what he lost.

well....it was life

As Ray Porter watched his
Mirabelle walk away he feels a loss.
How is it possible.. - he thinks...
to miss a woman whom he kept at a distance....
so that when she was gone he would not miss her.
Only then did he realise how wanting part of her....
and not all of her had hurt them both and how
he cannot justify his actions. except that,well....it was life

You feel completely, wonderfully like a woman

A woman needs to be held, even, and science has shown this, if its with someone she doesn't care about. Protective hormones are released, and the amount of hormones released depends on the degree to which she is held.

The first and best is the complete surround. He wraps you in both arms, whispers how beautiful you are.
Second best is the 'arm around.' He is next to you but with one arm around you.
Third is he's just next to you on his elbow, but he rests his hand on your stomach and looks at you. Fourth is you snuggling up to him with your head on his chest, while he looks away into space.
But when the first best happens, you feel completely, wonderfully like a woman.

Meet you in Malkovich in one hour

I think the world is divided into those who go after what they want and those who don’t.
The passionate ones, the ones who go after what they want, they may not get what they want but at least they remain vital, you know? So when they lie on their deathbeds, they have few regrets..The ones who don't go after what they want... well, who gives a shit about them (:
